The FCJ Excellence Awards “The Oscars” of the local and community media industry, became a glittering function at the Leriba Hotel & Spa in Centurion on Friday the 29th June 2018. With approximately 130 journalists from more than 80 local newspapers from all over South Africa, “The entries into the competition showed an astronomical increase of about 20% for the 2017 Awards compared to the 2016 Awards.” (FCJ judges‘ report). Four of Capro represented publications took the ceremony by storm - featuring in several categories of award-winning, viz: Zoutpansberger, The Village News, Limpopo Mirror and Far North Bulletin.

Ekurhuleni News was established in 2004 by S.S Sikakane, a young black South African entrepreneur.The business started with only two employees, but growth has seen the business now employing 10 people full time and about 10 on part-time bases.It was established as a monthly newspaper. It soon grew to a fortnightly and it is presently a weekly publication.The founder members have more than eight years of experience in newspaper publishing business.
